Children's Ministry
Southern Heights believes a key element in a family’s spiritual development is the discipleship of children. We have placed a strong emphasis on reaching our kids with the gospel message of redemption, and the ongoing growth of children after salvation. We have multiple means to achieve this goal:
TeamKID: Faithful Promises TeamKID is designed for Kids in Discipleship! It features Bible memory games and application of Bible truths, engaging missions videos and activities, and fun activity-based learning all while helping your kids grow to be more like Jesus.team
TeamKid usually meets on Wednesday nights from 5:45-7:15 pm.
KIDZ PRAZE is a music and drama ministry for children that meets in the spring and fall to learn and present Christ-centered musicals. The fall session prepares our kids for a Christmas drama that is a community-wide event. The spring session usually centers around a fun theme with a valuable spiritual message.
KIDZ PRAZE meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm. Stay tuned for specific dates to be determined in the near future.

Vacation Bible School is our premier children’s event every year. It is a fast-paced week of fun, learning, games, sports, singing, study, and drama. That’s a lot. It keeps our kids moving. We love it and, in a word— it's HUGE! We go all out! We want VBS to be one of the most memorable experiences of a child's life!
VBS is scheduled each year in June and runs from 6:00 – 9:00 pm Monday through Friday with a big VBS Finale on the following Sunday morning with the kids leading our worship service. This year, VBS is 6/12 through 6/16. The Finale will be Sunday 6/18. To say that we love VBS is an understatement!
STUDENT FELLOWSHIp (6-12 grade)
Student Fellowship is an intentional ministry for 6-12 grade students. Student Fellowship meets every Wednesday night. We have a meal at 5:30 pm and Bible Study at 6 pm. During our Bible Study, we usually sing a few songs of worship, have a Bible Lesson, and then split into our Grow Groups led by our Student Fellowship Leadership Team, a group of men and women who are biblically-qualified to teach and are federally background-checked for your student's safety.
Our Vision is to disciple young people to follow Christ in all their lives for all their lives. Did you know 80% of Southern Baptist students stop attending church and lose any faith connections when they go to college? We want to purposefully help our students succeed in their faith for their whole lives.

Gather— Hebrews 10:23-25 CSB, “Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”

Student Fellowship is designed to work in partnership with families when possible to produce young men and women who love God with their heart, mind, soul, and strength; love their neighbors well; and are eagerto serve God in whatever ways possible.

Music Ministry
Southern Heights has a music ministry built on theological truth and musical excellence. We have an exceptional band comprised of church members from many different walks of life and levels of experience. Our music is modern in style and represents a wide spectrum of music in Christian history. We sing hymns, Psalms, modern worship songs, original music, etc. Most Sundays feature a full band with vocalists, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, piano, and bass. Some Sundays will be acoustic sets with vocalists, acoustic guitar, upright bass, piano, percussion. Some Sundays might be a single worship leader leading from piano. We like variety.
The purpose of SHBC’s music ministry is to bring glory to God and equip God’s people through music that is theologically accurate, congregational, composed of songs from all generations of Christian worship, and modern in style. Music is a unique tool that is God-given to engage our hearts and minds. We use music to lead God’s people into alignment with God’s Word. Everything done at SHBC is to the glory of God and for His glory alone.
Adult Ministry
We have Sunday School classes for adults of every age every Sunday at 9:45 am.
